We make beautiful things, crafted to last — for you to be yourself in. That's been our belief since 1941, when six artisans in a small Manhattan workshop started hand-crafting leather into beautiful, clever, practical things.
What began as a family-run leathergoods company grew under the vision of Lillian and Miles Cahn into the Original American House of Leather. Then came Bonnie Cashin, hired in 1962 as our first lead designer. Her fearless approach to color, proportion, and quirk transformed us into a true reflection of modern freedom — the attitude of 60s New York.
Today, inspired by the spirit of our hometown, New York City, we create collections that span bags, small leather goods, footwear, outerwear, watches, jewelry, fragrance, and travel accessories. Our Creative Director Stuart Vevers has been reimagining our heritage since 2013, bringing a fresh energy that speaks to a new generation while staying true to who we've always been.
We believe in creating things you can be yourself in. We've built a legacy of craft and a community that champions the courage to live authentically. The same way we care about every stitch that goes into our product, we care about the impact we have on people, communities, and the planet. Everything we make, we craft to last, with the belief that better-made things create a better-made future for all.
We're more than a brand — we're a community of people around the world united by a shared spirit of optimism and the courage to be ourselves. When we're ourselves, together, we can move the world forward.
